If not us, then who…

If not now, then when…

If not for justice, then why…

If not at home, then where…

If not for families, then for what…

Run The Yellow

“If we know, and do nothing, we are worse than the murderers hired in our name. If we know, then we must fight for your life as though it were our own - which it is.”

-James Baldwin

Athlete Activism is work I’m called to do. By focusing my organizing efforts on my industry (sports) I can be the change I want to see.

I’m passionate about creating safe environments for learning and building authentic connections between athletes and community organizers. I’m also comfortable fundraising to help direct assistance to the folks leading the work.

Below are some examples of work I’m honored to have supported:

  • Athletic Justice Collective

    Co-Founded the Athletic Justice Collective

Co-created a diverse collective of concerned athletes, coaches, & staff representing professional sports teams, major institutions, & past legends in the Pacific Northwest.

Together we create synergy with our analysis, vision, information, resources, platform, & influence believing a united effort will amplify our collective message and magnify our impact.

The AJC hosted monthly meetings covering the following topics:

    • Mutual Aid Teach In

    • Abolition Teach In

    • Black Lives Matter in School Teach In

    • History of Race, Institutional Racism, & Power Teach In

  • Jersey Honoring Ceremony

On, May 30th 2021, the Athletic Justice Collective (AJC) and families impacted by police violence hosted a press conference where AJC honored impacted families.

The ceremony honored the families who’ve transformed their trauma into selfless action by passing an unprecedented package of 12 police accountability bills. In addition, we hoped to raise awareness of the families’ struggle so they know and feel they aren’t alone and that their loved ones aren’t forgotten.

    Athletes Honoring Impacted Families

    • OL Reign - Tziarra King, Jasmyne Spencer, Madison Hammond

    • Seattle Seahawks - Bobby Wagner

    • Seattle Mariners - JP Crawford, Justin Dunn, Shed Long Jr

    • Seattle Sounders - Cristian Roldan, Stefan Frei, Jordan Morris, Jordy Delem, Xavier Arreaga, Shane O'Neill, Stefan Cleveland, Danny Leyva

    • Tacoma Defiance - Danny Robles, Christian Herrera

  • Fundraising for Families

Fundraised $10,000 to cover all travel, lodging, and meal expenses for 10 Impacted Families from Washington state to attend the Weekend of Revival & Rejuvenation, a national healing event for families of stolen lives.

    The weekend included:

    • A private healing event for invited mothers, fathers, and family members of stolen lives

    • A semi-formal banquet where family, friends, activists, and community members gather to honor families who have lost children to police and community violence

    • Headstones are provided for families who have lost children

    • Remember and speak the names of those who died too soon

  • "What I appreciate most about Sean is that he is a genuine person who cares about community, and more specifically marginalized communities. He comes in with a willingness to listen and learn from community without tokenizing them. Sean’s zone is his ability to connect people together and build authentic relationships between folks whose paths would likely never intersect. His ability to provide a pathway for community members to professional athletes around social justice issues, as well as be a trusted source of information to athletes about community concerns is next level."

    Katrina Johnson

Community Organizer & Impacted Family Member

  • "Sean is a hard-working, passionate and humble co-conspirator. When we first met, we shared our passion for sports and uplifting the community. We had a chance to work together, in driving awareness and changes at the highest levels of professional sports. He is passionate in organizing efforts to increase engagement in disparities in education, and to those of impacted families. Sean's impact has been felt everywhere from organizations to individuals. I am lucky to have shared many meaningful conversations and lucky to work along someone who backs up the change they want to see."
